Mark Woodall President & CEO Mark Previously spent 12 years as a partner at Pritchard Woodall & Associates. Mark has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. Through Mark’s 30 years of experience in the industry he has received the AIIC and CRM qualifications. He has extensive experience in both claims adjusting and underwriting. Tom Willie Vice President During his 15 years in the insurance industry he has accumulated a broad range of experience on both a wholesale and retail level, having been involved in all facets of the insurance placement process. Tom has an extensive background in the hard-to-place risk area. He holds CAIB and CIP designations. |

Special Risk Insurance Brokers Ltd. was founded in 1992; Originally specializing in difficult personal lines risks (i.e. multiple claims), the company's focus soon grew to encompass a broader range of services, in both Personal & Commercial Lines. In 2010 Mark Woodall, the current owner of Sports-Can Insurance Consultants, purchased Special Risk. Special Risk functions as a division of Sports-Can. Over the years, Special Risk has become involved with several insurance companies, both domestic and overseas. We have developed specialized insurance niche products for hard-to-place accounts, and acquired numerous underwriting facilities for a variety of classes. We have several contracts in place with Lloyd's, allowing us to consider an array of diverse and unique risks, along with providing a solid market for surplus lines. Our philosophy at Special Risk is simple, but focused. We are in business to provide the most expedient and efficient service to our brokers, to assist them in placing accounts for which they may have encountered difficulty. We are here to provide solutions for all kinds and sizes of brokerages, to assist them in finding markets to fill their general insurance needs. Sometimes, this may require providing a full package of coverage’s (Commercial General Liability, Property and Commercial Automobile), and sometimes it requires simply participating on a subscription form already in place (such as providing a percentage of capacity for a property account). Coupled with Sports-Can’s products the two organizations are able to offer one of the most diverse product offerings in Canada. |
